Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. Where is Harvest Gathering

Harvest Gathering takes place in South Western Kawartha Lakes, Ontario.

see: Google Maps

Directions (text based)

Address:  1067 Ramsey Rd, Kawartha Lakes, ON

  1. How much do tickets cost?

Ticket prices are:

$35 for an individual
$15 for anyone under 18 years of age (5 and under are free)
or $75 for a family of up to 2 adults and 3 children.

  1. What should I pack?

One must remember that you are basically camping in a self reliant setting in a
Canadian Autumn.  Temperatures can drop below freezing at night, and rain is also in frequent attendance.  Participants should be prepared to live, play, work, and eat comfortably in these environments in an independant fashion.
A suggested pack list is available by clicking here.

  1. What facilities are available?

Free parking is available on site.  Water is supplied, though to save the
landowners well, we ask people to pack in as much water as they can.  Latrines
are hand dug, with privacy screens, and a wash station is available.  On site
First Aid is available 24/7, as is security.  There is no availability of electricity,
waste disposal (garbage or recycling), or showers.  Please come prepared.

  1. What about food?

With the exception of the Pot Luck Dinner on Saturday evening (which you are
asked to bring an item for), all food and beverages must be provided by
yourself.  We are currently seeking tenders for a Food Truck for this year, and
will keep you posted.

  1. Are there any extra costs?

Some workshops may require a small material fee to ensure the facilitators do
not go “out of pocket”, but most workshops are entirely free.  The Marketplace
often has unique and handcrafted wares for sale/trade, which can often be fun.
If we secure a food truck for this years event, money would required to use this
service.

  1. What should I do with my garbage?

Trash in, Trash out.  There are no bins or dumpsters available.  Please respect the
environment, the landowners and the organizers by taking care of ALL of your
belongings, including your garbage.

  1. Are there any nearby hotels or accommodations?

In order of proximity to the Gathering:

  1. Is parking included?

Parking at the event is included with your admission.

  1. What if I want to camp in a trailer?

Trailer camping is allowed, and a special area is set up for this.  We ask anyone
who is planning on bringing a trailer to contact us and let us know in advance so
we can save a section for you.

  1. Are dogs allowed?

Dogs are certainly welcome, but must be on a leash at all times.  Owners are
expected to clean up after their pet, and ensure they do not diminish the
enjoyment of any other attendees.  Organizers reserve the right to ask for
canines that cause a disruption to be left secured (and safe) away from other
participants.

  1. How do the proceeds get allocated?

Harvest Gathering is 100% not for profit.  The co-ordinator, facilitators, first
aiders, and all volunteers are donating their time to empower and enrich our
community.  No one receives payment for their services, although some
dedicated members of the Gathering receive free admission upon completion of
their duties.

  1. What is meant by “community run”?  How do I give feedback or help out?

Harvest Gathering is run by volunteers who place value on the skills we teach,
and community we foster.  As such, there are no “managers” or “directors.
Anyone who wishes to help out with the various committees, or tasks required
to put on an event of this magnitude, are welcomed with appreciation.  Anyone
who wishes to volunteer in any capacity is asked to fill out our volunteer
application form by clicking the Volunteer tab at the top of this page.

If you attended the Gathering, and have feedback you wish to pass along, our
e-mail and contact information on the website is checked year round.  A survey
is distributed to all on our e-mail list so they can add their thoughts, and during
the winter (off season), a discussion forum can be found on our website to
expand on ideas, and develop strategies to improve for the next year.
